Two existing villas become the starting point for an investigation into adaptive reuse as a form of contemporary architectural production. Rather than demolishing two existing villas, the original structures were preserved, strengthened, and transformed into a sustainable upcycling project that extends their lifespan while significantly reducing their environmental footprint.
Working from the same structural framework, each house evolved into a distinct spatial composition through strategic interventions and carefully integrated additions that strengthen the relationship between interior, landscape, and natural light.
Guided by a principle of simplification at every scale — from structure and spatial organisation to materiality and environmental performance — the project creates timeless living environments where sustainability is achieved through transformation rather than replacement.
